Holiday Mini Sessions

I'm in my 6th year of doing these mini-sessions. My first year in business, I did 20 minute sessions in my basement with a backdrop and one light. That was WAY back in 2002 and the mini sessions have grown to be our most sought-after sessions. Some families call starting in September looking for open spots on the ONE day a year that we offer our mini-sessions on a Saturday in time for the holidays. Some of the families I've photographed for three or more years now and it is really amazing to see their transformation. I hope you enjoy these photos. Jeanie Bunker has been with me since 2003. Amazing! This year she is a proud mother of twin boys.

And, as a bonus, one of my wedding couples from a few years ago come in with their two little boys. They came all the way from north of Baltimore! It was great to catch up with them and to photograph their little boys. 

And, I missed them last year because of my appendix surgery, but the Ruck triplets as always were hamming it up. 

The Pippenger Family has been with me for 4 years as well. 

Thanks to Jackie for all her hard work putting it together. This year we put her in charge and she saw it through from scheduling to contract arrangement to day of support. Thank you Jackie!!!!

Jaye and Kris: A DC wedding near the White House

Jaye and Kris rocked out at the Old Ebbitt Grill for their wedding on October 18th. All the wedding classics were a huge hit with this crowd. The ceremony was perfect at the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution). Here are some of the fab vendors she used:

Anar and Tak at Brookside Gardens

It almost kills me to add to this blog and move those photos down, but I've got some new stuff to show from the awesome Hindu Wedding at Brookside Gardens of Anar and Tak. The couple chose an amazing spot to be married and the weather could not have been better. Not a spot of wind and 70-something degrees. The reception at Marriott Bethesda North was expertly co-ordinated by event planner extraordinaire, Vinnu Kudva who is a pro at planning Indian weddings.  Congrats to Anar and Tak!

What an amazing place to be married! I think this is my new favorite place to shoot, next to Meridian House. OK, so maybe I say that about all my new venues, but really this place is amazing. Everything they are doing to preserve the environment really puts them into a new category of "Wow!" Lisa and Robert came to the studio for a day after shoot. I hope you enjoy the photos!

Jenny and Nate, A Meridan House Wedding

It was my first time at Meridian House in DC and what a fabulous wedding with perfect weather to introduce me to the site!

The return of the Joslyns: Kate and Brian at the Park Hyatt

I have to say that I am so bummed that the Joslyn weddings are finished. It was so fun to get to know this family and help them celebrate TWO wedding within a two months at two fabulous place. Kate was married on Saturday at Dahlgren Chapel on Georgetown's campus with a modern, fabulous reception to follow at the Park Hyatt on M Street in DC. In true Joslyn form, the reception was fabulous with amazing flowers and fantastic lighting by Frost. Thanks so much to the Joslyn family for EVERYTHING. Enjoy!

A photographer gets married: Kevin and Ioana in DC

Yes, it is completely intimidating to photograph another photographer's wedding. It's also a great honor that Kevin and Ioana chose me for their wedding. Kevin works for UPI, a wire service that supplies news and human interest photos to various publications. He's a fabulous photographer and has helped me with a few weddings. Ioana is also an artist and did all the graphic design for the invites and reply cards for her wedding and is now in the midst of creating a company to offer this to other couples getting married. Ashley and Phil: A Washington DC Wedding

Ashley and Phil love DC, but they live in Colorado. So when Ashley decided to do their wedding here, it was like planning a destination wedding. But she had help from her amazing bridesmaid and from fabulous planner Pam Barefoot. The timeline was put together perfectly to include a trip to the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial AND the Capitol Building! Well, I'll just let the photos speak for themselves:
