Holiday Portraits 2009

Well, it's that time of year again- where I shift gears and focus on the families that have come to me year after year to document their children. It's so wonderful to catch up with the families and to see how the children are growing. Soon I'll be shooting bar and bat mizvahs for some, others it will be senior portraits and one day, weddings. I hope you enjoy this sampling of family photos from some recent sessions:

Harper came to me two years ago and this time, she introduced me to her bear.

Mom and Dad are really enjoying being parents, and it's so fun to document that stage for them!

This beautiful family just started coming to us, and I really look forward to seeing them every year!

I photographed Nate and Davis when Nate was 2 and Davis was just born. It was my first year in business and now these boys go to the same school as my son!

The Bacon Family always looks forward to coming (wink, wink)

These are from a recent session at the Price's home in Virginia. They just moved and when I last photographed them, their youngest was still just a glimmer in his parent's eyes.

Jimmy Carter- yes, I photographed Jimmy Carter- ok not THAT Jimmy Carter. Just a lovely couple- and friends of clients.  I do wish we could photograph more gay couples. Love transcends......

A belated Happy Mother's Day for two very special new moms

Tiffany and Jen have been friends of ours (my husband Ethan and I) for a long time. We've been lucky to celebrate many milestones with them, but this one is particularly special. Jen and Tiffany are new moms and when I say I couldn't be happier for them, it's an understatement. Welcome to this world, Sophie. You have some wonderful moms.

Holiday Mini Sessions

I'm in my 6th year of doing these mini-sessions. My first year in business, I did 20 minute sessions in my basement with a backdrop and one light. That was WAY back in 2002 and the mini sessions have grown to be our most sought-after sessions. Some families call starting in September looking for open spots on the ONE day a year that we offer our mini-sessions on a Saturday in time for the holidays. Some of the families I've photographed for three or more years now and it is really amazing to see their transformation. I hope you enjoy these photos. And mark your calendar for next year to call in September to find out when the min-session day is. I promise it will fill up fast.

Jeanie Bunker has been with me since 2003. Amazing! This year she is a proud mother of twin boys. 

A fabulous new family with a little boy that has eyes to melt anyone's heart:

And, as a bonus, one of my wedding couples from a few years ago come in with their two little boys. They came all the way from north of Baltimore! It was great to catch up with them and to photograph their little boys. 

And, I missed them last year because of my appendix surgery, but the Ruck triplets as always were hamming it up. 

The Pippenger Family has been with me for 4 years as well. 

Thanks to Jackie for all her hard work putting it together. This year we put her in charge and she saw it through from scheduling to contract arrangement to day of support. Thank you Jackie!!!!

mini session day

So once a month we have a mini-session day in the studio. We hold 30 -minute sessions in the studio and people come and bring whoever and whatever to photograph in those 30 minutes. It's a great deal if you are looking for a more natural look to family portraits. We mostly do them for people looking to getting a nice posed photo of their family and then some nice candid photos if we have time. Check it out:
